Hi, my name is Marijke. I started taking violin lessons in May 2016, at age 26, after dreaming about playing the violin for years.

In the first three months of my playing, I recorded myself weekly on camera to see my progress. I edited the recorded bits together to a 10-minute video and uploaded it to Youtube. 

​

This video was meant to share with friends and family, and maybe it would give a bit of insight to others who also dream of playing the violin, I thought.

​

To my big surprise, the views went through the roof! People told me how much the video encouraged them to chase their violin dream as well.

 

I made two more videos in which I played a terribly out of tune song, but I had so much fun with video making and the positive comments were so motivating to keep going, I decided to take this "youtube thing" a bit more serious and I decided to upload a new video every two weeks.

I make videos of my progress, cover songs, performances, advice/talks/experiments and other (mostly musical related) adventures.

I hope my channel will become a place for everyone who dreams about playing the violin. I hope people will find the courage to start this amazing adventure, because it's never too late to start playing an instrument!

SO, WHAT ELSE DO YOU DO?

I work three days a week as a teacher in elementary school and I'm a freelance graphic designer. I live with my husband in a cozy town in The Netherlands.
